The Halloween Carnival

Yesterday, Little A's Kindergarten class took a field trip over to the elementary school campus for their annual Halloween Carnival. I was fortunate enough to be a parent driver, and able to spend the day with him.

I was wracking my brain the night before on what I was going to dress up as. For those that read my blog, you know full well that the Octomom costume is not going to fly well with other parents or their kids. So I was trying to figure out what I could come up with last minute, and well......I came up with nothing. Apparently my creative juices were not flowing that day. So I went as Mom.

I made some ghost pops (Tootsie Roll Pops made to looks like ghosts) and brought those in. Very easy to make and the kids love them.

What I enjoy most about Halloween at school are the other kids' costumes. There were 4 Transformers (my son being one of them), 2 Spidermen, and a boatload of fairies and princesses. The teachers were dresses up as Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool (if you were born in my generation). "Princess Peach" if you were born in the generation that revamped the game.

The field trip was a ton of fun and the kids had a great time. I took the D man with me (of course) and he was dressed up as Tigger. He's such a great kid so their weren't any complaints coming from him.

The kids enjoyed various booths of fun such as:

Spinning Art Booth
How to make a paper airplane booth

Bowling (sorry don't have a pic of that one), and a Haunted House which Little A stated he never wanted to go into again.
We really had a great time!

Only because...

...I too am still trying to figure out what he was drawing on the sidewalk with chalk?

Nearing completion...I think.

Any guesses?

Way Back WHEN-sday

Because Halloween is going to be here before you know it, I only deemed it important to post a few pics of Little A on Halloween in 2005. Allow me to introduce you to all the pics I took that night......

And that's all folks.
3 pictures were all he was willing unwilling to sit for. Plus, we have a tad bit of video footage. He hated his costume....absolutely HATED it.
And all that red stuff that's surrounding his mouth? That was the remaining portion of his popsicle. We gave it to him to try to coax him to stop crying and go trick-or-treating.
We NEVER left the house that night.

4 more days.....

.....until HALLOWEEN!!

Oh I can hardly wait.

I still need to figure out what costume I am going to wear to Little A's school on Friday. They are having a Halloween carnival. I certainly can't show up wearing my Octomom costume. The kids will have no clue who I am. I'll probably end up going as a butterfly or fairy of some sort. I KNOW I have those costumes from previous years tucked away somewhere.

The D man will be wearing one of Little A's costumes...probably Tigger.

Little A is going as Optimus Prime and he can't stop talking about it. I think there are about 2 other boys in his class who are going as Transformers, so I'm looking forward to seeing what their costumes look like.

Big A is suppose to be a hot dog. It was not exactly his choice. In fact, for some reason when people asked Little A what him and his family were going to be for Halloween he kept mentioning that his dad was going to be a hot dog. I think it's hysterical. Have you seen what the adult hot dog costume looks like? See picture below.

I KNOW that Big A can pull this off. He still has to go get it, but I know I'll be laughing my ass of when he's walking around the neighborhood in this costume. Wait a minute...shouldn't Halloween be scary and not a laughing fest?

Anyway, I photo-edited some pics of us just in time for Halloween.

I simply couldn't bring myself to make the D man scary.....

Way back WHEN-sday

No, I'm not pregnant. But I was, this time last year.

These are pics taken last Halloween. My little pumpkin, D, was cooking in there, and for fun I decided to paint a pumpkin belly.

Little A was Spider Man and wanted to pose with my big pumpkin.

Big A and Little A were horsing around in the yard, when I caught this picture. A lot of tickling and wrestling was going on. You can see (in the lower left corner) that my pumpkin belly made a cameo in the picture.
I can't wait to actually where a costume this year.

Tooth #3

In the midst of my crazy week, I forgot to mention that Little A lost his 3rd tooth.

His teeth are coming out so quickly, that every time I turn around, he's losing another tooth.

When I was younger, it seemed like my loose teeth took weeks before I was able to yank them out. Perhaps I was being a baby about it and was truly just terrified of telling my parents about it. As soon as I mentioned "loose tooth" to them, the Kleenex would come out, followed by a large hand in my mouth twisting it around until it snapped off. My tongue would always quickly go to that empty spot in my mouth. It was squishy and always tasted like blood.

Little A is such a trooper though. Either that, or maybe I am just really great at pulling out his teeth. I twist it quickly and pull it out. No blood, no tears and I watch as his little tongue makes its way to that empty space in his mouth. He knows how cool it feels to be able to do that.

Big A and I are always clueless as to how much to give him. We made the mistake the first time he lost his tooth by giving him $10. Yes, it's quite a bit of money, but bare with me on this....His tooth came out so quickly, and that night the "Tooth Fairy" only had a $10 bill in her wallet. The Tooth Fairy's "assistant" had a $20 bill in his wallet. So you can see their dilemma that night.

But now, 2 teeth later, the "Tooth Fairy" didn't know how much to give and only had $9 singles in her wallet that night. I hope we figure out a good amount soon. He'll be learning the REAL value of money here in no time.

Boo pancakes!

Since it's getting pretty darn close to Halloween, and since my family LOVES pancakes, I decided to bust out with my Williams-Sonoma Halloween pancake molds.
Making these pancakes is pretty simple, plus I think it makes it much more enjoyable for the kids to eat.
I made them the other morning and I ran out of cooking spray and butter (you need it for the molds), so instead of them turning out like the picture above, they turned out like this:
Anyone order a decapitated ghost pancake? Anyone?

Some new pics from my Dirty Thirty

My dear friend Camille from Badger Photography posted some pics from my party that I thought I would share. There are still PLENTY more to come so don't fret if your picture is not here.

In the mean time, I am still working on getting that video posted of my brother singing with the band. For some reason, it's taking hours to upload a video that's almost 2 minutes long. Anyone else have problems posting videos on here? Or does anyone know an easier way?
